Postbank assured social grant beneficiaries this week that even if their SASSA gold cards have expired, they remain valid and will continue to work for social grant payments throughout 2024.
During the period from January to March 2024, cash services at Post Office branches will be phased out. However, beneficiaries facing issues with lost or stolen cards can still visit any Post Office branch to obtain a replacement card.
Postbank warned beneficiaries not to listen to people telling them to change to another bank, claiming that their grant won’t be paid because their card won’t work. “This is incorrect. Postbank assures you your card will work and you will be paid on time via your existing card,” said Postbank spokesperson Bongani Diako. SASSA beneficiaries are requested to report misleading attempts to convince them to change to another bank. Report these incidents to 0800 53 54 55.
