Mooinooi police station closed after ‘several’ police members test positive for Covid-19

The Mooinooi police station has been closed after several police members tested positive for Covid-19. More cases have also been confirmed at the Brits police station.

The police would not say how many, but according to unverified information Kormorant received, over 20 police members tested positive.

“We can confirm that Mooinooi police station has been temporarily closed for decontamination due to several members who tested positive for covid-19.  We can confirm that among these members there are a few working at Brits,” said provincial police spokesperson Brigadier Sabata Mokgwabone.

The Community Service Centre (CSC) at the Mooinooi police station is currently operating from the station’s boardroom. The public can still reach the police station by calling the following numbers: 060 987 5498 or 014 574 5000/1.

On Friday, Absa Bank in Brits closed its doors after an employee tested positive for Covid-19.

The number of Covid-19 cases in Madibeng has climbed to 107 by Monday, 22 June.

According to the Covid-19 statistics in North West released by the health department in North West on Monday, only 17 of the 107 patients have recovered so far.

The total number of cases in North West is 2148 of which 1895 are active. Five deaths, of which one was in Madibeng, have been reported.
